Marissa Farrar was born in Devon, England, in 1979. She began her love of reading and writing horror at a (frighteningly!) early age, and always wanted to be a writer.
At age twenty she moved to London where she met her husband and went on to gain a Zoology degree at the University of London. After completing her degree she suffered from a case of itchy feet and spent time travelling the world, and still loves to travel. After living and working in Australia for a year she returned to the UK where she worked in the pharmaceutical industry before having her daughters.
During this time she continued to write. Her overactive imagination often kept her up at night, as a creak in the floorboards was never just a squeaky floorboard. Her love of the horror genre grew through the medium of books and movies, and she would happily spend most of her time absorbed in a world of make-believe.
Last year, deciding to escape the British weather, the family moved to Spain where Marissa began to write her first vampire novel. Marissa wrote Alone sitting in front of an open fire while her husband was back in England working. She wanted to create a heroine who didn’t need to be rescued, who just needed to find the strength to save herself, but who was still capable of falling in love. So Serenity was born.
Marissa is now back in England living and working on the sequel to Alone, which will take Serenity and Sebastian to an even darker place. The publication of The Darker Road is in the autumn 2010.

Alone by Marissa Farrar
When Serenity reaches the end of her tether, no one can save her. The men in her life to date have all been takers, users, people who suck the life out her and then, somehow, make her feel as if it’s her fault. This was Serenity’s life until she crosses paths with a mysterious stranger. Sebastian is drawn to Serenity and tries to make her life safer, whilst avoiding his own demon-ridden past.
